A crankshaft position sensor (often called a crank sensor) is a crucial part of a vehicle's engine management system. It monitors the position or rotational speed of the crankshaft, which is a key component that converts the linear motion of the pistons into rotational motion to turn the wheels.

The crankshaft position sensor sends this data to the engine control unit (ECU) to help it manage critical functions, such as:
