A car ignition coil is a crucial component in your vehicle's ignition system. Its main job is to transform the battery's low voltage (usually around 12 volts) into a much higher voltage (between 20,000 and 45,000 volts or more) that's needed to ignite the air-fuel mixture in the engine's cylinders.

Once the ignition coil generates the high voltage, it sends this electrical charge to the spark plugs. The spark plugs then create a spark at the right moment in the combustion chamber to ignite the air-fuel mixture.

The ignition coil works in conjunction with the ignition control module or distributor to ensure that the spark is delivered at precisely the right moment during the engine’s cycle. This timing is crucial for efficient engine performance and fuel combustion.
